How to know if you are infected in Project Zomboid Unless you want to watch your untimely death play out over the next hour or so, of course. If you choose to start a new character in a different world (rather than continuing on the same world and finding your previous base), you should quit when bitten and restart. There is no way to avoid infection when you are bitten, so we recommend using the following days to prepare for your next character by stockpiling food and medicine in your base. This is a slow process that will cause your character to deteriorate over days until they eventually die. Bites will infect you with the Knox Infection and make you reanimate upon death. Unfortunately, bites always mean death in Project Zomboid. What happens if you get bitten in Project Zomboid? There’s a 25% chance that lacerations caused by the undead will give you the Knox Infection and lead to zombification. Lacerations are caused in the same way as scratches, but they are far worse. What is a laceration in Project Zomboid?Ī laceration is more severe in Project Zomboid, as it will lead to more blood loss and a much quicker death. If you receive a scratch from a zombie this is much more dangerous, as it carries a 7% chance that you will turn into a zombie. Scratches will bleed and cause your health to decrease, but you can fix them using bandages or ripped sheets. You might get scratched by shards of glass on the floor or when climbing through a broken window, for example. Scratches are minor injuries that you can get in a variety of ways. Scratches, lacerations, and bites inflicted by a zombie can make you contract the Knox Infection. However, as mentioned above, the Knox Infection is always fatal and will cause you to become a zombie upon death. Wound infections are a little more complicated so we'll cover them more later in this guide, but they don’t necessarily spell death either.

If you rest a lot and continue to eat and drink edible substances, food poisoning and colds will pass with time.

This is because while running the generator releases toxic fumes that will damage you if it is in an enclosed space. Once you get your generator to your base, you will want to place it outside. You can drop it while carrying it and be able to pick it up later with no damage to the generator. It should be noted that while carrying the generator you are unable to fight back the zombies and you will move slower. Once you have found one, you will need to carry it back to your base or use a car to transport it. This means you will need to find a generator somewhere in the world to power your base. Sadly you are currently not able to craft a generator. Let’s go over how you can get a generator and how it works. While they are very useful generators can also vary dangerous if you don’t know how they work. The staple to power anything in Project Zomboid is going to be a generator. So it may come as no surprise that getting power restored to wherever you are calling home will take a little bit of work. Even something simple like hotwiring a car takes a decent bit of game knowledge to get done.
